Committees
Do you want to expand your network, gain valuable leadership skills and add to your professional resume? All members in good standing of SNA of Mass are encouraged to volunteer by joining a committee or running for a seat on the Board of Directors.
Joining a committee is the best first step in deepening your engagement with SNA of Mass. Our committees are made up of interesting, committed professionals from across the state who share a drive to give back to the industry and their communities. There are currently five active SNA of Mass committees including Membership, Professional Development, Exhibits, Industry Council and Nutrition/Legislative. To inquire about getting involved at the committee level, please complete the Interest Form and we will get back to you within one week. You must be logged in to the SNA of Mass portal to fill out the form.
Legislative/Nutrition Committee
In the next year, SNA of Mass will work to form a separate Nutrition Committee. The Legislative and Nutrition Committee is responsible for monitoring, interpreting, and informing members about state and federal legislation related to child nutrition. It maintains communication with governmental agencies and professional organizations, prepares official responses to proposed policies, and identifies key nutrition issues affecting child nutrition programs. The committee promotes dialogue through educational sessions, facilitates member participation in advocacy events such as the Legislative Action Conference (LAC) in Washington, D.C., and coordinates meetings with legislators. It also organizes state initiatives that connect food service professionals with elected officials, oversees relevant website content and communications, and contributes to newsletters. Additionally, the committee participates in the USDA Advisory Committee, updates governance materials, and manages the LAC grant application and award process.
