
SNA of Mass offers various programs throughout the year that provide CEUs for our members and event attendees including our Winter USDA Conference and the Fall Conference. We are passionate about providing the Massachusetts school nutrition community with ample opportunities for connecting, learning and growing – both personally and professionally. We aim to create interesting, valuable content to our members through webinars, chapter meetings, conferences and other programs. In conjunction with the School Nutrition Association (SNA) we are able to offer our members access to certificates and credentials.

Certificate & Credentialing Through SNA
Certificate Program
Getting your Certificate in School Nutrition from SNA shows your commitment to your profession. SNA’s Certificate program aligns with USDA Professional Standards, making it easier for you to keep up with the requirements.
Earning Your Certificate in School Nutrition will:

Credentialing
SNA established the School Nutrition Specialist (SNS) Credentialing Program in 1997 to enhance the professional image of school nutrition professionals, elevate professional standards and enhance individual performance. The SNS Credential is a mark of excellence and achievement that reflects what it takes to manage school nutrition programs in today’s challenging climate. The SNS Credentialing Exam evaluates candidates’ knowledge and skills required to perform specific job activities related to managing or directing school nutrition programs.

Grants & Scholarships
SNA of Mass Monya Gellar Professional Development Scholarship
The Monya Gellar Professional Development Scholarships are awarded to help SNA of Mass members fund their educational opportunities. Acceptable courses, certificate and degree programs are those which will enhance skills and knowledge related to school food service. Courses may be taken at (but are not limited to) colleges or universities, conferences, workshops, or online. Awards are up to $500 each.
The Monya Gellar Scholarship application opens in February each year and the winner is announced by June 1st.
SNA of Mass ANC First-Timers Grant
This grant covers registration, travel, hotel and meals for an individual to attend the SNA Annual National Conference. This is a great opportunity offered for first time attendees to attend an ANC held outside of Massachusetts and is open to all members: food service employees, managers or directors. This conference is an exciting and educational experience which allows School Nutrition Professionals to come together to learn about the latest trends and happenings in our profession. There are dozens of educational sessions and a huge exhibit hall where you can see the newest products first-hand. You will be inspired by nationally known speakers and even have time to enjoy fun evening events or tour the local area. Perhaps the best feature of this conference is the incredible networking opportunities you can have with thousands of your peers from all over the country!
The application for the SNA of Mass ANC First-Timers Grant opens in the Spring and the winner is announced by the end of May.
SNA of Mass LAC First-Timers Grant
Consider bringing your expertise, your passion, and your stories to Washington, D.C., and prepare to shape and define national policy relating to school nutrition. This conference is an exciting and educational experience, which allows us as School Nutrition Professionals to educate congress about our national program and local needs. Involvement in the legislative process of our association brings amazing professional and personal growth and satisfaction. It allows us the opportunity to implement change at the highest possible level, mobilizing the house and senate to take action and care for the nation’s most precious commodity: our children.
The SNA of Mass LAC Scholarship application opens in late Fall with winners announced by the end of the year.

SNA National Awards & Scholarships
The SNA Awards program highlights the outstanding and important work of SNA members and state affiliates. Members and state associations are eligible for a variety of honors that recognize their achievements in school foodservice, leadership, membership recruitment and professional development. SNA also offers a number of scholarships for professional development.
